Commons Congress 2013 announced

The 4th Commons Congress will take place in San Francisco, 19-20 April 2013, around the theme of “The Truth of Personalized Medicine: Our Commons Future”.

Now three years old, Sage Bionetworks is coming into its own in piloting
components needed to build a biomedical research commons. We’ve been
busy – creating computational models of disease, releasing infrastructure for
collaborative data-driven research, and exploring the boundaries of commons-
based governance in health and medicine.

On the way we’ve heard a lot about personalized medicine and what it will
be in the future. We’ve seen some of the progress made by individuals or
single organizations and think it is important we now all consider how we best
address this complex and moveable concept.

This year, the Congress is not going to be about how the public can help us at
Sage Bionetworks. It’s about how we at Sage Bionetworks can help the public
build the commons. We want to engage with organizations and individuals
that are real cornerstones to success in achieving this goal. Within the
congress we will be challenging you to define projects for Sage Bionetworks
to help you take on – clinical studies, modeling challenges, patient community
formation, and more – and we’ll be choosing some of the best to take forward
as core Sage Bionetworks priorities after the Congress.

A draft agenda and list of invited speakers is available and we’ll be updating the details of the confirmed speakers regularly.

If you’ve already confirmed your place, you’ll shortly be receiving more logistics information.
Please contact congress@sagebase.org with any Congress queries.
